“The development of the child during the first three years after birth is unequaled in intensity and importance by any period that precedes or follows in the whole life of the child.”
- Maria Montessori
“How many things does a baby need?” I moaned, standing in the middle of Babies R’ Us. Apparently, more than I thought…
Since we’re planning on using mainly cloth diapers, we’ve set up a cloth diapering fund that anyone can contribute to before December 30th. This will help us to purchase cloth diapers, covers, and other items that will allow us to fulfill our goal of cloth diapering. Donate here: http://babybewley.giftcards.com
We’ve also set up a registry at Amazon.com to help guide the generous folks who have asked us what our baby still needs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/baby (Look us up by our last name “Bewley”)
If you prefer to choose a toy or other item for our baby, we’d like to direct you towards developmentally-appropriate toys for infants. We’re trying to remain plastic-free and we’ve made a conscious choice to exclude brand-name marketing characters (Disney princesses, Dora, and other TV and movie characters) from our home for as long as possible. We are grateful that you are considering giving our baby a gift, and we want your investment to be something our child will enjoy and benefit from for a long time… Here are some websites that have lovely developmental toys:
Michael Olaf: http://michaelolaf.com/store/index.html (see maroon-colored section on left for all items available)
Melissa and Doug: http://www.melissaanddoug.com/baby-toddler-toys
Thanks in advance!!!
